FORAGING for MONOPRINTS
A two day printmaking experience where we will utilize the plants around us in a variety of experimental monoprinting techniques.
What will be Provided:
10-15 pieces of 4"x6" 100% cotton artist print paper (the perfect size to mount on holiday cards)(Additional paper/sizes available if desired). Akua Intaglio and Liquid Pigment Inks, black and limited colors. Access to three printing presses as well as hand printing tools. All other tools needed for this process. Time to forage for plants, space to work, and lunch to keep us nourished.
Who is this for?
This retreat is accessible to folks at any level in their art journey! Wether you are a seasoned printmaker or you want to try rolling ink out for the first time, we will all be present to learn and support each other. I believe this is a forgiving process that functions best when folks are ready to just dive in and see what can happen.
Drew Chasse is an artist and community worker who absolutely loves printmaking. She has studied most forms of printmaking and primarily works in linocut, but monoprinting is what first made her fall for this medium. She imagines this weekend workshop will be a dreamy combination of printmaking, experimenting, community, and nature.
When: 10am-4pm on Saturday 11/4 and Sunday 11/5
My proposed cost and a breakdown of WHY the cost:
For 12 hours of 'class' ($80), two meals ($30), use of space ($60), and materials ($50)...
"$150-$350. Scholarships available & no one turned away for lack of funds

Our Work in the World

ancient wisdom & modern ethics

1. Care of Earth
We are ecological stewards and integrate care of the earth in farmstead projects, in our designs in NC and on the lands we help steward elsewhere. We work with the natural patterns, resources and limitations of the land, seasons and cycles.
We believe in healing the land and letting the land heal us.
2. Care of People
Farmers are the best "healers" and we raise food and medicine in harmony. We create a safe space for emotional processing & a productive positive environment and strive to take good care of our selves, beloveds, workers, clients, interns, neighbors, and communities.
We communicate with love, respect and collaboration in all our relationships.
3. Share the Abundance
We utilize surplus and on-site resources in growing our farmstead and in our offerings. Whenever possible we barter for materials or buy within our local community.
We grow all we can for our family, friends and animals, and continue to learn and discover the amazing biodiversity on this land and beyond. We integrate the foods and medicines of the forest into our daily diets and offerings and consider the best care for the people and the Earth in all our decisions.
honor the sacred with each step
